About Denise Vega
Denise Vega, MSN, ACNP, fulfilled a promise to her grandmother to become a nurse. She completed a master’s degree in nursing with board certifications in advance practice nursing and an MBA. She also has an impressive résumé of inpatient and outpatient experience.
“Focusing on the entire patient as well as the full spectrum of the disease process allows us to understand how one ailment can affect another. It also helps us take care of the whole person. That’s why I love what I do.”
Vega has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from University of Texas at San Antonio and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
After three years working in Northeast Baptist Hospital’s progressive care unit, Vega left to pursue a Master of Business Administration degree with a minor in health care at University of Texas. At the same time, she joined Methodist Healthcare System where she would spend nine years in the coronary intensive care unit at Methodist Heart Hospital. Vega has also worked as a geriatric advanced practice nurse in a general internal medicine office for three years. Following this, she worked with Schnitzler Cardiovascular Consultants as an acute care advance practice nurse caring for patients at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital as well as in the clinic.
Vega joined Cardiology Clinic of San Antonio in October 2014 and works with Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Jorge Alvarez at the practice’s Medical Center location and will see his patients at Methodist Hospital and in the clinic.
