Abby Gardner, MD

Internal Medicine
Growing up on a cattle ranch in rural Montana is a long way from Stone Oak, but spending time with her grandparents and their friends in that community paved a path for Dr. Abby Gardner to devote her career to providing primary care in this community. “In elementary school, my cousin was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which ultimately lead to my motivation to attend medical school. I expected I would eventually practice family medicine, but I discovered that the intricacies and complexities of internal medicine were a better fit for me,” says Dr. Gardner. Dr. Gardner has a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. She completed medical school at the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Gardner joined iMED Healthcare Associates in September, 2016, and, also—happily—rejoins her husband who is completing his residency at University of Health Science Center at San Antonio and plans to practice otolaryngology. "Building relationships with patients, understanding where they're coming from and what their values are-that's how I can offer patient-oriented care."
