About Abby M Griffith, MSN, APRN
Working collaboratively with patients defines Nurse Practitioner Abby Griffith's approach and her emphasis on the patient's role as an active participant in their health.
Having started her nursing career working with newborns at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, then with infants and children with cancer, blood disorders and bone marrow transplants at Methodist Children's Hospital, and later as an infusion nurse in the outpatient setting with adults at Cancer Care Centers of South Texas, Nurse Practitioner Abby Griffith is excited to begin the next stage of her career with Texas Transplant Institute's Adult Blood and Marrow Stem Cell Transplant Program.
Abby spent two years in the United States Air Force between high school and college. She's grateful for the experience and it was during her time in the military that she decided exactly what she wanted to do with her career. Abby had always been interested in healthcare and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston after she was honorably discharged from the Air Force.
She graduated with a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and is a licensed advanced practice registered nurse with a board certification as a family nurse practitioner.
Abby's clinical interests involve adolescents and young adults with cancer (AYAs) and their long-term survivorship needs. Her other interests include volunteer work with the Children's Bereavement Center of South Texas, local homeless shelters and pit-bull rescue organizations. She hopes one day to join medical mission trips overseas.
"Whether it is with the patient, the family, the community, or the interdisciplinary team, my approach will be one of teamwork."
