Monica Cantu, APRN

Nurse Practitioner
Nursing, for Family Nurse Practitioner Monica Cantu, is in her blood. With a number of family members who are nurses, and a husband who is a firefighter and paramedic, service to community is, too. After graduating from University of the Incarnate Word with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, Monica worked as a registered nurse in oncology at Methodist Hospital for two years before transferring to labor and delivery at Metropolitan Methodist Hospital. She also broadened her nursing experience by working with medically-underserved patients as public health nurse for the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, with Humana as a referral nurse, and even with iMED Internal Medicine! Monica completed her Master of Science/Family Nurse Practitioner degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2014 and spent more than a year as the solo provider for medically-underserved patients in a busy clinic before re-joining iMED Healthcare Associates in mid-2016.
