Joe's Story

“Dr. Bathla literally saved my life,” says Joe. Diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma—a liver tumor “as big as a brick,” Joe underwent surgery to remove it in late 2017. “He removed 80% of my liver. I doubt there’s another surgeon who would have done this surgery, and I’m convinced there’s no one else I’d want in there with a scalpel,” says Joe. Dr. Bathla prepared him for a long recovery. “It was a slow, arduous process and I’m not a very patient man!” says Joe. After 18 days in the hospital, he was discharged to home.
