About Neurosurgery and Neurology Specialists

The dedicated providers at Methodist Physicians Neurosurgery and Neurology Specialists diagnose and treat disorders of the brain, spine and nervous system. We offer a wide range of neurological services, from managing the effects of strokes, dementia and epilepsy to less serious but often disabling situations, such as migraine headaches.

We are affiliated with Methodist Healthcare, giving us access to world-class facilities, providers and research. This includes electroencephalograms (EEGs) for patients at our clinic as well as surgery and epilepsy monitoring procedures performed at Methodist Hospital.

Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)

Our practice's epileptologists often admit patients to our Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) - located in Methodist Hospital - for diagnosis of typical spell or seizures, localization of seizures, or anti-epileptic medication. An EMU is a specialized facility where a team of epileptologists and dedicated nurses and technicians can investigate in greater detail the characteristics that define a patient's epilepsy. Patients undergo a number of diagnostic tests including but not limited to continuous video electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring, capturing seizures and modification of medications in a controlled environment.
